U14 Camogie Blitz

U14 Camogie Blitz

The U14 camogie squad headed over to the Assumption Grammar to take part in the U14 County Down Blitz.

They first battled against a very large and strong St. Louis’ team. It was a slow start but the girls knew what they needed to do in order to go through to the next round. When St. Louis’ scored the first point of the game, the girls fought hard against the strong wind with Frances Toner scoring the point which levelled it out between the two.

Then came the nerve-wrecking game against Assumption. With just five minutes per half the girls knew they had to step up! The girls had an impressive win with Ann-Marie Smyth scoring the point which put them in the lead, followed by a goal from Alannah Hagan.  The final score was 1-1 to 0-0.

The third game was played against Our Lady’s, Newry. By this point the girls knew what they needed to do in order to play in the final. The girls came out strong from the second the whistle blew! They won with 4-1 to 0-0, fantastic scores coming from Lauren Craft, Chloe Alarape, Cliodhna Clarke, Alannah Hagan and Ann-Marie Smyth.

The girls are now through to the final against Our Lady’s and St. Patrick’s, Knock.  Good luck girls!
