This year Saint Columba’s College began a Faith Friends Programme. Our senior pupils in year twelve visited Saint Mary’s Primary School over a period of five weeks, beginning in January and concluding in March. During those five weeks they delivered the programme to primary seven pupils.
The programme was delivered to help the primary seven pupils prepare for their confirmation. The Leaders interacted with the pupils discussing their own faith and encouraging the younger pupils to discuss their faith, using various themes, such as, ‘The Holy Spirit is a Friend who Loves Us’ etc.
This programme has proven to be very beneficial, not only for the leaders but also for the primary seven pupils involved. They all enjoyed this experience which is reflected in their comments below. When asked what they had enjoyed most about the programme they wrote:
‘I had a good time and I really enjoyed it. I liked our leader and I enjoyed the activities’
‘Having a good time’
‘Drawing and listening to others and having a good time’
‘Writing good things about people’
‘Drawing my emotions and talking about our emotions’
‘I loved Faith Friends. I understand more about God’
