Remembering World War One

Portaferry Presbyterian Church has organised a History project called “Together Through Our History”. This will involve Year 10 students from St.Columba’s College and Glastry College researching and writing accounts of local people of all persuasions who fought in World War One. This project began on Friday 9 January 2015 with a re-enactment of the Christmas Truce of 1914 with pupils from both schools wearing British and German army uniforms and taking part in a short football match in St.Columba’s.
